How to import video with Custom Picture and Look File in Premiere Pro

This may be a Premiere Pro question.  As I write this, I'm discovering some more details and I'm getting even more confused.

I shot a bunch of videos with the Custom Picture set to C7.  C7 I set up to record in Cinema Gamut with CLOG2.  I registered the look file from the file named CinemaGamut-CanonLog2-to-BT709_WideDR_33_FF.  Color Matrix is Neutral.  I didn't change it or any other settings in the C7 Picture settings.  I'm 99.99% sure I used C7.

Each of the video files has a CPF file.  I still have them but I didn't feed them to Premiere Pro (I'm not even sure if that is possible.)  I put the video files (mp4) into Premiere Pro.  I've seen log footage before but not CLOG2.  I'm clearly a newbie so take what I say with a grain of salt.  But it appears to me that the footage Premiere Pro renders (without adding a LUT) is not in log format.  When I view the same file in QuickTime Player, it looks a little washed out like other log files I've seen.  The Premiere Pro render is definitely darker and more vibrant.  I have added Lumetri but it is currently disabled.

Last... when I add the C.Gamma/CLOG2 to REC 709 LUT via the Lumetri plugin the result is awful -- very dark and super saturated.

I assumed the look file was simply for display purposes during the recording but what is actually saved in the file is in CLOG2 format.  Is that correct?

I realize this is not a Adobe forum but any tips on how to use this footage in Premiere Pro would be appreciated.  I've seen a video where it is best to correct the exposure in Lumetri and then add an adjustment layer on top with the LUT because the exposure must be correct before going through the LUT.  But any which way I try things, when I add the LUT, the result is horrible looking.

I have since done a quick test (which I should have done before).  With the "Look File" "on", the video recorded on the card is indeed different than when the "Look File" setting in the Custom PIcture is set to "Off".  But... the image on the screen and view finder are also different.  So... is it possible to get the look file to be used only for the display of the image / video on the screen or view finder but not what is recorded on the card?

I think I figured it out.

In the C7 custom Picture, Look File is Off but With Look File is set to a 3x3 LUT as I described before.

On Camera tab 8 (Assist shooting), the HDR/C.Log view Assist. I have the Screen/View Finder set to On (BT.706 during CP).  The video files captured are in log format while the screen and view finder show a normal BT.709 image.
