If you are refering to the built in wireless flash control...

That's done via the built-in flash. It "communicates" with an off-camera flash via flashes of light.... Optically in other words, so the off-camera flash has to be within a limited range, line-of-sight with the built-in flash. The off-camera flash needs to be ETTL compatible and set to "slave" mode.

If you are looking for Radio Transmission (RT) the camera does not have it. To date there is no camera on the market with built in RT.  You need a 600EX RT on the camera and another 600EX RT off camera to get RT. Another option is the Canon ST-E3- RT transmitter that you can mount on your camera to fire the off camera 600 using RT. It is a clone of the 600EX RT except it does not have a flash head thus lees expensive. Yonhnuo just came out with the fully Canon compatible YN-E3-RT transmitter (no flash head either) which is a little cheaper than Canon.

Just a note: Canon RT only plays nice with Canon RT. You can't mix and match other RT systems. The only recent excpetion is the Yongnuo transmitter.
