This option allows you to manually focus with RF lenses even when autofocus is active, but this option is not working on the R8, as it does on my other R6 and R10 cameras.
Anyone experiencing the same problem?

UPDATE: I just updated to the new firmware released today, 1.1.0 and nothing has changed. I still can't use Electronic full-time MF on video with lenses with independent focus ring

I must say, the problem I'm encountering only applies in video mode and with some lenses. Lenses that have a switcher between focus control and some custom adjustment, such as the RF16mm and RF50mm lenses, they work well, however, when I use lenses that have a dedicated focus ring, such as the RF35mm 1.8, the R8 does not respond.I have the R6 and R10 and have tested the same menu settings on other cameras where manual focus works, except on the R8.
Another problem I identified was that the focus guide does not appear on the R8 even when active in the menu, unless manual focus is used. I don't have this problem with the R10 or R6
“Custom Switcher”? I’m not sure that I understand what you are saying there. Nor the part about lenses with dedicated focus rings. Every lens has a dedicated focus ring.
Just what exactly is your setup? Tell us how someone can reproduce your issue, What shooting mode? AF Mode? AF Point(s) selected?
What type of setup works? What type of setup does not work?
Thanks, ahead of time.

I think what the OP is trying to say is that lenses that have a switch for focus & control (combined focus & control ring) Manual Focus Override works. Lenses with separate focus and control rings. Manual Focus Override does NOT work during video mode. But they should work the same as long as the switch is set to focus and NOT control.

Some lenses, like the RF16mm has a switcher button to focus control or just "control" (can be customized to speed, aperture or ISO). So the ring has more than one function. Some lenses, like the RF35mm has a ring dedicated just to the focus control.

This is the situation with the R8 with the RF35mm 1.8
And this is the R6 with the same lens, and the Manual Focus working properly

What happens if you press the shutter button halfway to establish initial focus, release the button, and then try the manual focus ring adjustment? Does it work then?
I also noticed that you have eye detection enabled (eye icon on the screen) in the R6, but not on the R8. Does that make a difference?
As a last resort, you could reset the camera back to factory defaults, along with custom functions.

No, it does not works that way on video mode.

The icon does not exist on R8 and eye detection on or off does not make difference

The camera is brand new, i don't see how this could help in this case.

Only limited lenses work with Electronic Full-time MF.
There is a list on the Canon website here: https://cam.start.canon/en/H001/supplement_0060.html

Thank you for the input, I hope you've read all of the previous OP's posts.

Hello my friend!
Have you figured out with that issue? I experience the same problem with my R6 mk2 & R7. I have R6 and the full time manual focus works just fine, but not with R6mk2 & R7.
I hope you found the solution and can share it! Thank you!
