EOS Rebel T7i will not connect to my iPhone 14 Pro using Canon Connect Software. Error Code 11

I can’t find a list of error codes anywhere in Canon’s support website or app.  Instead it sends me to the community, which seems ridiculous.  I have been able to connect successfully using their old app (although it certainly had its quirks) but not the new one.  I’m following the same process using the Canon Camera Connect (CCC) app but it won’t  connect.  Also, my camera is registered on my account on Canon.com, but when I go into the app and sign in, it asks me to register my camera.  Is a software upgrade required to use the CCC app?

Hi Jknordeen1,

I'm sorry to hear you are having issues connecting your EOS Rebel T7i and the Canon Camera Connect app. The registration in the app is different from registering a product to your account. Registering a camera in the app is just saving a connection once it has been finalized. So once your camera and phone connect in the app that will register that connection and it will be listed in the app going forward.

Error code 11 is shown when a wifi connection is not finalizing, so it makes sense you are seeing that since your phone and app haven't connected. Try these steps to set up the connection:

1) First the Canon Camera Connect App should be installed on the phone. Once installed don't open it or have it running in the background, we just need it installed at this point.

2) On the camera press the wifi button and choose Connect to Smartphone.

3) Select Register a Device to Connect to and then choose Do Not Display.

4) Now the camera should be showing an SSID and an Password. Leave that screen on the camera.

5) On your smartphone pull up nearby wifi networks, you'll see one that matches the SSID listed on the camera. Select that and when it asks for a password enter the Password listed on the back of the camera.

6) Once the phone is on the network open the Canon Camera Connect app. Once the app is open in the top left will be a camera icon with a plus sign. Touch that icon, select your camera model, choose Wi-Fi Connection, put a check mark next to “Camera is now ready to connect”, and touch Next. On the next screen the app will detect the camera and show a pop up showing it detected the camera.

7) In the prompt select the name of the camera and now on the back of the camera it will ask if you want to connect to the smart phone. Select Okay and the connection will be established.

Thank you for the information.  Wow, this entire process is non-intuitive.  The registration on the app is different than on the website?  It’s poor terminology and unnecessarily confusing - using the word register with two different meanings. Also, who would think that you have to hit “do not display” in order to connect?  And when I followed the steps as listed in the software, the connection didn’t take place.  Should the software be updated to include your suggestions?  BTW, before I saw your response, I solved my problem a different way by first connecting using Bluetooth.  When I started to import images, the app switched to the faster WiFi connection before uploading.
