EOS R7 shutter button won't respond when using Bower 500mm lens

Hi...

I tried using the Bowe 500mm on my R7 but I found out that I can't take a shot as the shutter button wont responds.

Do anyone know if the lense works with the mirrorless cameras or there is a problem with my camera??

Thank you

You need to use one of the Creatve Shooting modes; P, Tv, Av, or M.   When you select one of these modes the full menu system becomes available.

Your lens is fully manual, so it doesn’t really do any work, at all.  There’s a menu setting that is for lenses that don’t communicate with the camera, such as yours.

When a lens doesn’t communicate with the camera, the camera assumes that there’s no lens attached to the lens mount.  So it’ll disable the shutter to protect itself.

There’s a menu setting that overrides the behavior.  Look for a menu setting that enables the camera to “Release Shutter Without Lens Attached”.

Greetings,

I'd appreciate it if you would tell us the brand and  model of the adapter you're using to mount this  (putting it kindly ) "lens" to your R7?

Review your user guide and enable the setting "release shutter without lens".  This is on the custom function menu. C.Fn4

I want to be completely upfront with you.  That lens is complete junk.  You don't get 500 mm of focal length for a hundred bucks. The R7 is a nice camera. You are doing it an Injustice.  Canon and many other retailers are having one of the biggest and best sales of the year.  If photography is important to you, I know you can do much better.

It does all boil down to what you are good with. Any of these cheap lenses will make a photo. They will be soft and have significant QA. But it isn't my place or anybody else's place to make that decision for you. I bought one similar lens years, decades, ago called the "Girl Watcher". It is a 400mm f6.3 lens of very singular design. I used it on my F1n but since they are all T-mount they are all alike. I still have it but I am a lens nut so that's normal. Actually it makes surprisingly good images if you mess around in PS with the photos.

Do I recommend it or any of the others, no, I don't. You are better off saving that hundred bucks for a better lens. But still fun to mess with.

A better inexpensive lens is the 500mm f6.3 lens from TTArtisan. Actually a fairly good lens again if you use PS.

Exactly...I want to see the outcome of the lense after editing the photo and if it's any good for wild life photography

This will make a poor lens even worse don't do it.

You have a great lens if you have the EF 400mm f5.6L. It is light years better than the Bower.
