I now have a second SD card to use in my EOS R7. Card 1 is in Slot 1. Do I format Card 2 in Slot 2
EOS r7 (using Windows 11 on my pc but I don't think that detail is relevant to my question).

You can format a card in either slot, there is nothing special about one slot or the other for formatting a card.
When you select the format menu option you will see a display where you can choose the card you want to format. Either tap on the card2 use the dials or joystick to select the card to format.

Just make sure you format the correct card!
I can see the post here in my head: "Help! I formatted the wrong card in the camera! Can I get my pictures back!"
