i have an R5 that suddenly lost eye tracking, when focus is engaged it goes to a zone bunch of blue focus points hunting around even though it's in spot AF. it's been working perfectly since new. any ideas?

i fixed it, just noticed that under "q" button, the focus + tracking had somehow switched to Focus only, weird.

Are you using back button AF?
if so please check the settings after you press INFO as it is possible to configure the back buttons or override the current AF area.

i am, and i have checked all the settings, even compared them to my R6 which i have set up up exactly the same.

ok so now i've just noticed that it works fine in manual, just not in FV mode, which is what i usually shoot in, curious.....

It's always good to check the camera settings before a shoot as things are inadvertently switched or changed without notice. I always like to check my settings just to make sure they'll meet the needs of my shoot. Just food for thought !
