So I have a canon r5 and a CF card and when I record a video it goes into that card and Im wondering if I could look at the footage on the CF card straight from the camera or do I need to import it first because I cant seem to find a way to view my footage right off the camera which is a huge problem for me because I cant check until i’m home if the footage is focused properly.

You can play back movies on the camera. See the Movie Playback section which starts on page 489 of the User Manual. Though I don't see any feature to magnify the footage. So trying to see if critical focus was achieved via a tiny screen will be tricky.
