EOS R5 Mechanical Shutter RAW bit depth vs. Electronic Shutter RAW bit depth

What is the RAW bit depth for still photos on the Canon EOS R5 when using Mechanical Shutter?

Also, what is the RAW bit depth for still photos on the Canon EOS R5 when using Electronic Shutter?

Are these specifications listed anywhere in the Canon EOS R5 User Manual?

It is most likely 14-bit.   I don't see that called out in the manual anywhere though.   For the EOS 5D IV, It mentions "14-bit Canon original" on page 574 for RAW.   The similar section in the R5 manual omits any details.

I ran accross this a while back on DPREVIEW, but have only found various vague references on other sites. However, nothing "official".

"Raw, C-Raw

14 bit with mechanical shutter and 1st curtain electronic shutter.

13 bit A/D conversion in H+ mode

12 bit A/D conversion with electronic shutter."

Following up, so where did DPREVIEW get their information?

And why the differentiation?

It was in a discussion on their forum and the person did not mention the source.

I think there are only three comments in the thread.

The-Digital-Picture website reports that info:

Canon EOS R5 Specifications (the-digital-picture.com)

Maybe an email to Bryan would reveal the source of his info.
