EOS R5 Mark II - Setting a custom button for toggling "Pre-continous shooting" option

It looks like there is no way to assign "Pre-cont shooting" toggle to a custom button. Is that correct?

You are correct, currently there is no setting in the custom buttons that will directly allow you to assign the function to a button to toggle pre-cont shooting on/off.

Thank you for confirming my suspicion. 
I personally believe this is an important need Canon has omitted. How can I make an enhancement request to include this in the next firmware update?

Due to the differences I use to shoot static or slightly moving subjects (like birds) and continuous, my settings for normal and pre continuous are quite different. I use higher shutter and ISO for both pre and continuous, so I set it up beforehand and assign that to a custom setting. So, for me, I would still be changing things on the fly even if I did have a pre continuous toggle.

However, you are not me, so if you want to make a suggestion to Canon go to their Support Site, scroll to the very bottom and click the [+] Feedback link.

Thank you. I'm primarily a birdlife photographer (amature, wannabe). I'm planning to use the pre-continous feature hoping to capture interesting moments, like fast paced actions of interacting birds in flight. I was hoping to quickly turn off the pre-cont feature when not needed. Primarily to reduce the memory card filling up. 

I will make the enhancement request on the Support Site you pointed to.

You are welcome! I hope they honor your request, but I suspect it all depends on demand.

My method, although not quick, works well for me and is easy and quick enough for the way I shoot. One of the things that people complained about on the R6 mark II was that when using pre continuous, it combined the files into a film roll. You can only extract a range of files, which go into another smaller roll, or one at a time. I kind of like that because it provides all of my bursts with pre in a folder of sorts. I can go through the roll and pick the ones I find interesting and discard the roll when done. With the R5 II, I have to do the opposite and pick the ones I don't want/like to delete, if that makes sense.

Anyway, a lot of people complained about the way pre continuous was put into a film roll on the R6 II, but it was never changed, at least not yet. However, it was changed in the R5 II, LOL!

Sorry, when I shoot remote, which is typically for stacking, I tether via USB and use Helicon Remote.
