EOS R5 Mark II How to remove hot shoe cover

Good day,

Is there a secret method to remove the hot shoe cover without damaging the camera and the user of said camera?
I understand that it is a recognized issue, but what is the best grip / position / action to ensure proper cover removal with zero risk for the camera.

Yes, it is a quite fit, I guess the answer is press hard down onto the button and slide backward the cover.
For long lasting easier fits, adjust the rod length.

Well found the issue, the small center button is a lever, the opposing rod is a tad too long, and does not allow the cover to slide unless the button is fully depressed.

Greetings,

In my experience, when something appears to be jammed, unmovable, hard to mount or unmount, etc. It's usually because of alignment incorrect pressure or not engaging a release mechanism properly.  Sometimes something can be wrong or fail, but often it's usually technique.  I've figured things out being gentle in these situations.  Usually ending in a a-ha moment. 🙂.

Yes. It is a tight fit. This is the V2 of the cover. Folks were complaining that V1 covers were falling off and easy to lose.

Mine slides off with a light press. If you press hard, it puts pressure on the tracks and causes resistance which makes it harder for the cover to slide off.

I cradle the camera/lens in my right hand and place my right thumb on the little ridge near the front (lens side), then lightly press the button with my left thumb while simultaneously pushing the cover towards the rear with my right thumb. Slides right off.

Thanks you for the feedback,
Yes I did the same as what you described, however the first "dislodging" was hard, I have checked as well online and saw videos where the users demonstrated the same (unnecessary?) effort.
However, after adjusting the pin length, the cover is now easy to remove and stays firmly in place when a flash or trigger is not used.
Will look for a way to make a Hot shoe cover tether, so said cover does not get "lost".
