EOS R100 How to automatically renumber files if one is deleted

MickBM

Hi people,

I'm having trouble with photo/file numbering/naming within a folder.

I need playback info to display the total number of files within in a folder and the viewed files individual number within that folder. The camera currently only shows the total number of files at the folder menu level and tracks the total of number of shots taken. If a photo is deleted the file names don't adjust.

Eg. If I've taken 4 photos and delete photo 3 the camera currently shows the photo numbers as 1,2,4. I need the file name to adjust to 1,2,3

Hope that makes sense,

Thanks,

MBM

The camera is not able to rename all the pictures when you delete a single or multiple images from within the sequence.

So if you have IMG_0001, IMG_0002, IMG_0003, IMG_0004, IMG_0005, IMG_0006 pictures on the card, then delete IMG_0004 it does not rename any files, this is partly because to do so could be a long process if there are a thousand images in the folder captured after the one you delete.

If you want the files to be consecutive you will need to rename them on the computer. Canon DPP software does have a batch renaming capability that you can use once the images are transferred to your computer.

Thanks Brian, appreciate your help.

Is there a capability to display the total number of files in a folder and the number of the viewed file within that folder? Eg. Image 4 of 6  (4/6)?
