Hello... I'm having some trouble with my EOS R10.
Despite having an empty 256GB SD card, my camera only lets me record between 53-54 minutes of footage (it has a time code countdown posted in the corner) and then once my time runs out I get a message saying my card is full.
I've been uploading, and emptying the card after each take, which is such a pain - but I haven't found a way around this. The files I'm uploading are all well under 20GB each, so the card shouldn't be full.
Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

Hi Kathy and welcome:
There are video recording limits outside those of the card size, but also the card type. They are listed on P255 of the Advanced User Guide and I recommend you read that whole section of the manual. Specifically, you should note that the limit of the file system used for the SDHC cards, which is FAT 32, has a maximum file size of 4GB on P260, as per this. This might be a factor in your issue.
I hope this helps with your question.

Kathy6,
That may just be the nature of the game. A lot depends on the frame rate you are shooting at. With lower frame rates l8ke 30 or 60fps, your recording time should be limited to 2 hours per file. Higher frame rates cut down on the time limit.
You should refer to your manual about video recording limits.
Maybe the message you are getting means that file is full, and that you need to create a new file, or new movie.

Hi Kathy6,
I understand your frustration with your video recording stopping. The information Tronhard and stevet1 provided is correct and there are limits to movie recording file sizes on the EOS R10.
If you want to reference the manual for those recording limits they are listed on pages 360 and 362. If you need a copy of the current manual it is available HERE. Once you are on the web page click on the Manuals button and the one to reference is named EOS R10 Advanced User Guide.
There is one thing to check with your memory cards for this issue. Overtime as files are written to a card and deleted from it fragments of those files start to build up on the card. If enough of those fragments build up it can reduce how much space is available for the camera to write a file and it can cause it to stop recording before it reaches the recording limit.
Due to that we recommend doing a low level format on the cards from time to time. That will delete the old fragments from the card and free up all of the available space. Before doing a low level format make sure to back up anything you need form the card onto your computer. Once a low level format is done everything is deleted and there isn't a way to recover those files.
Once everything is backed up load the card into the camera, put the card into the camera, and put the camera into either P, Tv, Av, or M mode. Go to the first page under the yellow wrench icon, select Format Card, and on the next page press the trashcan button so there is a check mark next to Low Level Format. Once you see the check mark select Okay and it will start formatting the card. Once the card has been low level formatted check to see if the same thing is happening.
