LaneG

New firmware for R10 requires a password. I don't want a password, anyway to get around it?

After the firmware update, when you first turn on the updated camera, you'll be asked to set a PIN.

When you power up the camera a second time it will request the PIN, but you should have an option to Don't ask again or something to that effect. Selecting this option will prevent the password screen from appearing every time you use the camera.

If ever you reset the camera to factory defaults you will need to go through this exercise again.

Thank you so much! It worked.

You could have also just created a passcode then went to the Wrench (setup) 6 menu and disabled it. Click "Manage password" then toggle "Pword request" to "Off" 🙂

This doesn't work for me,  it always asks.  Then I went to the "wrench" tab 7 to "Manage Password" but there isn't any way I can find to select "Off" - it always say "On".  This is on my R7.

Have you attempted to put the mode in M, AV, TV and reviewed the menu options to see if it is available to change?

Marc, this shouldn't matter. I don't have the R7 in hand, but I have 4 other R cameras with the p/w feature, and all allow p/w change, manipulation, or info while in the Green mode.

Regardless of mode, when you attempt to enter "Password management" by pressing the "Set" button, you will be prompted for a p/w to enter password management. The way they implement it is a bit odd because you have to accept twice, once to enter and once to accept. At least, I think it's a bit redundant 🙂

Make sure it is highlighted then press the "Set" button. You will be prompted for your pass code. Enter it and select OK twice. You should have access to change it to OFF.

I don't own the R7 either Newton but know that some menu items do not display unless you are in a mode mentioned. Just thought it was an opportunity to see if the option also impacted passwords.
