EOS R Will not let me do anything

I turned my camera on today to test some settings that I plan on using for the eclipse. As soon as I turn it on, the 2-second timer is activated and takes a shot after the time is up. No problem, I'll just change the appropriate settings and get back to normal.

The only settings that function are the ISO that is changed via the control ring on my RF lenses, and the aperture that is controlled with one of the dials on top. I cannot change the mode (currently in Av), or change any of the timer settings or anything else. I cannot access the menu.

The battery is fully charged, the memory card is in good shape. It seems like I need to reset/reboot the camera but can't find a way to do that it nothing responds. Totally frustrated right now, no idea what to do.

OK, I finally got something to happen. I decided to unplug the intervalometer that I had plugged in and now I can do whatever I want. The unit wasn't even turned on but some how messed things up. I have since been able to reattach the intervalometer and do all of my testing. Sorry about the mess, I didn't know where else to turn to.

kirabbers,

That's okay. It's good you got it fixed.

Maybe down the road someday, someone else will have that same problem and you'll be able to tell them how to fix it.

Potentially the intervalometer was "half-pressing the shutter button" and this stops the other buttons part from the control ring from operating. Depending on the camera configuration the the time the control ring requires the shutter half-press to work.
