EOS M6 Mark II time lapse exposures longer than 1/8s needed

Trying to capture night sky with time lapse and exposure times greater than 5s.  The EOS M6 Mark II seems to restrict time lapse exposure time to no more than 1/8s.  Is there any way around this limit?

The built in interval timer in the M6 MII is a simple setup using the movie mode and this has a lot of restrictions including the 1/8s slowest shutter speed you found along with a 4K maximum resolution instead of what the sensor is capable of providing. 

To do it "right", you will need the Canon TC-80N3 and the RA-E3 adapter to adapt the TC-80 control plug to the port of the M6 MII.  The TC-80N3 is a very capable self timer/interval timer/long exposure timer/exposure count timer which allows you to combine its modes and it works very well.

Using this external timer/controller allows you to use all of the camera features to their fullest.

Thanks for the quick reply. 

The TC-80N3 is rather pricey at around $150.  Amazon has a knockoff named "JJC TC-80N3 Intervalometer Timer Remote Shutter Release Time Lapse" for $22.  Would you happen to know if this will work with the M6 Mark II when the RA-E3 adapter is used?

I would check the reviews and see but it should be returnable.  If the company makes a variant with the plug that fits the smaller cameras directly, then you won't need the adapter cable which converts the classic 3 pin connector to a mini phone plug used by the M6 MII.
