EOS 7D Mark II won't work with Sigma 170-500 APO lens

Just bought a sigma 170-500 mm lens and upon trying it on my canon 7d mkii keeps coming up , please clean contacts on lens.

I have the latest firmware on, was wondering if i have to go back on the software for it to work.

Any help would be grateful.

If this problem only occurs with this lens, the problem is with the lens, not the camera or camera firmware. Perhaps contacting Sigma would be the best option, or return the lens.
