My dad is giving me his Canon 6D that he purchased in 2013. Hrs only used it a handful of times. I want to use it for hiking trips and taking pictures of my dogs (to make calendars and greeting cards). I don’t have a computer. I only use an iPad. My dad says it does have Wi-Fi. I’ve used cameras before but nothing like this so I want to make sure it’s something that fits my needs AND the technology isn’t obsolete. Any advice and suggestions is greatly appreciated.

The 6D would be considered obsolete in precise terms, since Canon is no longer making them (or pretty much any more DSLRs, due to the shift to mirrorless).
But, it is a perfectly serviceable camera. No reason you won't many years of use from it. You can use the iPad for photo editing. You would just need the Apple (or third-party) Lightning SD card reader. There are many good photo editing applications available for the iPad.
