I am using a Canon EOS 60D and I just ordered an external flash (speedlite fk300) and it works great when I am taking photos with it! However when I go to edit the flash settings it doesn’t recognize the external flash. I have ensured that flash firing is enabled but I still keep getting the same error message.

Greetings,
This is correct.
PHOTOOLEX FK300 Camera Flash Speedlite
If you want in camera menu support, you'll need to use a Canon flash.

This is a low-cost off-brand flash that is made to sound like a lot more than it is.
"Speedlite" is Canon's brand name for its flashes. This flash is not a Speedlite. It should be called, at best, a "speedlight", which is a generic word. It WILL fire on any camera with a hot shoe, as the Amazon blurb says, but that's it. It cannot integrate with the camera's flash setting functions.
