The main dial on my 5D is no longer working properly: only every 3 or 4 turns does it do anything. Very frustrating when trying to select aperture.
Two questions:
1. Has anyone had the dial repaired through Canon, and what was the cost?
2. I could reassign the main dial function (aperture) to another button, but which one?

I currently have the exact same problem. I will be trying this before sending it in for repair. I've been holding out on upgrading for years as newer Canon models just don't appeal to me.
