EOS 5D Mark IV Images on SD card not showing on PC but in camera

I have a 5D mark iv and running into issues with transferring images directly from the SD card. I can see the images if I play them back on the camera but when I use a card reader with the SD card on my PC ( windows) it just shows the EOS5D folder to be empty. What gives....I used that card reader with no issues with my canon rebel, so I don't  think its  the card reader....help, where am I going wrong?

Greetings,

Look for a folder named "DCIM".  Your images should be in there.

The DCIM folder is "empty" , but I can look at them in the card on the camera. ( I also checked that card 1 was primary and card 2 is secondary) . If the SD card was corrupt, wouldn't it give an error?

I believe the image you see on playback in the camera is just a thumbnail and not the full image file  If you find nothing usable in the DCIM folder you card had probably been corrupted and need formatting or replaced.  If you have not formatted your card do, so, it may fix the problem, or you may need a new card,

Ugh....I was really hoping it wasn't another card corrupted ( crap from Amazon) I did format the card before use. Dang it.  The brick and mortars aren't carrying as many of these SD cards and clearly Amazon is garbage.  🤦‍♀️ Appreciate the response

Hello, Melissa!

It may not if the #1 slot (CF) is primary and also set to "display". I'm assuming you have looked on the CF... Are they there?

How do you have the card slots configured? I have the 5D IV, so I am familiar with it.

Newton

Do you have two cards in the camera?  Did you check both cards?
