EOS 400D no live view

I've been trying to take photos of my paintings with not such great success. I think I can do better but what I can't figure out is why I don't ever see the painting I want to shoot in the LCD screen. I have to look through the viewfinder. I have it set to AF.. and looked at every possible setting but can't get it!

The 400D doesn't have LiveView.

oh.. ok. so that means no way of seeing the image I'm shooting on the screen, right?

If you have a Mac or iPad this might be something that would work for you.

Correct. But you could tether the camera using the free EOS Utility.

I looked at the available software and didn't see anything that would do what you suggest
