So I haven’t used my 250D in about a year so I took it out to take pictures of my newborn son and I got the error 1 message saying that the lens is having trouble communicating with the camera. I’ve cleaned the pins, made sure none of them are stuck, tried a different lens, and reset all the settings. Nothing is working. I also tried to register my camera so I could send it in for repair and I got a message saying the serial number is not recognized. I did make sure to put in the number in the silver box on the bottom of my camera. I’m kind of at a loss of what to do…

Welcome to the Canon Community, Bribee35!
The 250D is a model Canon released for sale in its European and African markets. This is likely why the serial number isn't being recognized and why it would be ineligible to be registered. It's very similar to the EOS Rebel SL3 in North America, and EOS Kiss X10 in Japan. Camera repair shops familiar with either of those models should be able to diagnose the issues you reported. Any other Community members with other ideas are free to chime in.
