EOS 1300D will not connect to PC via USB cable.

Hi all,

I've just bought a Canon EOS 1300D, and after taking a few snaps I'm eager to see how they've turned out.

I've downloaded and installed the relevant software for my Windows 10 (64 bit) computer, and then connected the camera to my PC via the supplied USB cable.

I can vouch for the USB port that I'm using, however I can't vouch for the cable as Canon use mini-USB whereas everything else I own uses micro-USB.  But I'm positive, so I'll assume that the cable is working.

At this point nothing happens; Windows does not discover my camera, no drivers are installed (are any even required these days?), and I cannont access my photos Man Sad

The EOS Utility software is set to launch when a camera is connected, further demonstrating that the camara is not talking to my PC.

Please can someone assist me if fixing this problem.

Thanks,
David

The usual reasons are that WiFi is turned on (which disables the camera's USB port) or that the USB cable is a "power only" model that lacks the data strands.

conon software is with out a doubt the worst software ever made. i have never had a worse expireanmce trying to get something to work. it is unintuitive, slow, and buggy at best. if I did not like the camera so much I would throw it in a lake. trying to connect to a PC via USB is like beating your self in the head with a hammer. you get it working it works a few times then just quits out of the blue, it wont tell you what the problem is, it just quits. canon you suck at this. please fire every person involved with the EOS software and start over, you have failed..

1. you are replying to a 8+ year old thread that is marked Solved. You should start your own thread.

2. If you are having a specific problem and want assistance you need to describe what you are doing, what items you are using and what if any error messages you are receiving.

3. If you just wanted to rant disregard 1 & 2.

i just wanted to rant, but im still cant connect my r50 to PC. no error message nothing. wifi on,, wifi off, doesn't matter. at minimum you should be able to plug a USB in and see it as a hard drive. but no canon needs to make it complicated so they can suck as much money out of you as they can.
