ELAN IIe Film Camera - Self-timer issue

mavila

Getting back into B/W film photography. I have a Canon ELAN IIe film camera. Everything seems to be working fine except the self-timer doesn't want to work in any of the creative modes. This camera is probably going on 30 years old so doubt many are being used. Just wonder if anyone might be out there that has had this problem and knows a solution if there is one.

Thanks

Manny

Just figured out the problem. CF C05 was set to 1 verses 0. Guessing this function enables a remote trigger to be used with mirror lockup verses self timer. Anyway, with the function set to 0, self-timer works fine.

Have you looked in the manual. Some EOS 35mm film bodies supported mirror lockup with the self timer button. So check Custom Function 5 and make sure its set to 5-0 and NOT 5-1. Also note your camera was the first Canon EOS 35mm Film camera to support E-TTL Flash metering and is still supported today. If you ever want to use an external speedlite. Your camera is considered a "Type A" camera meaning its supports E-TTL any EX or EL speedlite will work on your camera.
