Crowd sourced documentation for EOS Cameras

I want to start a project of more fully documenting Canon EOS R series of cameras. I feel like Canon does an excellent job at documenting the user interface of their cameras. The PDF for the Canon EOS R1 is 1179 pages for example. But since my background is engineering, the product, in this case the user documentation, is never finished and can always be improved.

My initial stab at this can be found here.  I really hope folks will give me feedback on this and I hope join in the project.  For example, the pages that describe the functions that can be assigned to a button is several pages with icons and terse terms that I personally find very hard to fully comprehend and there are many subtleties that can only be found by either a great deal of experimentation or by the guidance of someone that has gone down the path before.  I am hoping that those who have discovered and understand these subtleties contribute to the project.

Personally, I have no trouble finding out information in the manual.  I don't really see the need for this, maybe other people do, I'm not saying it is abad thing, I just don't see the value of putting that type of effort into it as these camera models change often.  I would rather be out using my camera than knowing every little detail.  But, good luck with you project.

Like Tom, I really don't have any problems finding what I need in the Canon user manuals, same as finding things with any of my other brand cameras. That being said, I've been reading camera manuals since the 1970's (when they were 40-60 pages long) to the current 1,000+ page manuals.  So like the manuals have evolved into tons of information, I've evolved into knowing where to look. Then again, I'm a hands on kind of guy, so I love playing around with the odd features while out in the field, and without the manual in front of me.

But that's just me. I've known many others who are often confused looking over the manuals, and don't always understand exactly what they are trying to say... or they want better detail. I think that what you are doing is going to appeal to a minority group of users, but I'm sure that group will love it.
