I am old and stupid. How do I check/get the shutter count on this SL1? I tried a search in this forum and I am still clueless.

You can't from the camera. You need either third party software or to send it to Canon.

And the third-party program is no longer available. Why do you need the shutter count?

Just wanted to know how used (number of shutter clicks) a camera body is before I buy or sell a camera.

Could you possibly help me with this too?  Any free online checks are not working for me and I don't want to pay for a shady service (website I got to on one google search didn't look very helpful).

I would also like to know this for this camera... did you ever find a way?

So far one nice person told me how to retrieve the info for a MAC or iOS:

https://www.direstudio.com/shuttercount/tech-specs/

I have not tried this link because I have Windows. But it may be worth a try.
