Can't always press button to take shot in dim or dark. Flash doesn't auto pop open.

Hi canyouseeit!
Welcome to the Canon Forums! So that the Community can help you better, we will need to know exactly what equipment you're using and any error messages you might be getting. Also, what mode do you typically shoot in? Any other details you'd like to give will only help the Community better understand your issue! Thanks and have a great day!

Flash popping up will depend on which mode you're shooting in and the flash settings.  The flash settings are one of the directional pads on the back (probably "right", but it depends on your model).  Alternately you can just push the flash button on the front.

If it's not taking the photo it's probably because it can't find focus in the dark.  Try manual focus, or select a bright(er) point in the scene to focus on.

Tried switching modes. Usually end up turning camera off and facing dark to get flash to pop up. Rebel TR3 has flash button on top but doesn't do anything when I press it. Should that be the auto pop-up button?
