For some reason, I have lost the feature allowing me to zoom in when using Live View to get precise focus. When I press the "magnifier" button, I get a message that says magnification cannot be used when the camera is in Face Tracking AF mode.
However, When I go the to manual to see where to turn it off, it says that AF setting is found on (Camera icon) 5. I only show four columns under that icon.
So, how do I turn off face tracking?

Sorry, I have too many cameras. My 6D's are in storage so I'm working from memory, which is running on old firmware, 60.0, LOL!
I thought there should be a row of settings along the left side, like Focus area, Continuous shooting (Drive mode), etc, that you can select. As you select one, the options for that set become visible along the bottom. Since I don't have the mark II in hand, I found an image on line.

IIRC, the Q menu is customizable, so you may have done that at some point. Anyway, you need to make sure "Face + Tracking" is not selected to get your zoom back.

Skip, that shouldn't be in the shooting menu. I would look at the AF point selection.
Make sure you are in Live View, press the Q button, select the AF Method icon, then select another zone, maybe one point. Face tracking will look like a smiley face so just take it off of that.

Skip70,
I have a T8i, and I can't Magnify if I am in one of the Tracking Modes. It will Magnify to a point if I am in Spot or Single Point focusing and to a Zone or area if I am in one of the Zone Modes.
I can only autofucus during Magnify, if I am in Single Point or Spot. If I am in one of the zone or Area Modes, I have to manually focus.

Thanks, yes. I kinda found that on another circuitous path, but was able to figure out where these tracking modes were; they are not visible in all modes (ah, that clever are at Canon!). My owner's manual is strangely silent on all fo this.
I have since switched off face tracking and I am able to magnify greatly. Thanks again to you and Steve.
