The internal pins on the USB port on my 5D IV were bent when the USB cable plugged in from my computer to the camera got snagged on something and snatched out. I have a business policy for all of my equipment and contacted the provider to start a claim on my camera. They denied the claim stating that normal wear and tear caused the USB port to fail. I'm not sure where to turn, aside from sending my camera in to Canon and having to wait for an estimate and determination. Is there any official guidance as to this kind of damage happening to a camera body not being considered "normal wear and tear?"

Greetings ,
This is what I would do. Login to MyCanon, register your product and initiate a repair request. You will be provided an estimate at that time. Decide if repair is the best course of action. If so, package, insure and ship your device to the nearest repair facility.
In this situation, the cost to repair probably won't exceed the cost to replace, but upgrading might also be a possible consideration.
Afterwards, you may want to re-evaluate your relationship with your insurance provider. Either you or they do not appear to agree on the type or level of coverage you believed you had.
For future, CarePaks, take care of this kind of stuff. Accidents happen and while unfortunate they do offer additional peace of mind.

You have nothing to lose by trying to straighten the terminal tabs with a jeweler's screwdriver. Use a good cable as a guide.
