Did you mean:

6d unresponsive

PaulaCabezas

While shooting with my 6d the screen went completely blank and now none of the buttons are working but the shooter.

If I try to turn it on in automatic it goes completely insane, changing all the values and trying to focus even when I'm not pressing the shooter.

has anyone had the same issues?

Some Canon cameras have a clock battery for hard reset. Unfortunately, 6D has this battery inside and you won't be able to remove it.

"... to hard reset cameras with built in battery."

I don't have a 6D but generally it takes several weeks of non-use for the internal battery to discharge. I doubt you discharged it.

But he didn't discharge it through non-use. The whole problem was that the camera wouldn't stop trying to do stuff. The takeaway was that he apparently managed to switch the load to the built-in battery until it ran out of power, forcing a hard reset.

Paula,

Did you have to reset the time and date?

Yup! Sorry,,,, I obviously wasn't paying attention to the name. No excuse for the implicit assumption either; we have lots of good female photographers (including my wife, Martha).  Smiley Happy

The built in is just a 'keep alive'.  It doesn't run the camera.

I'm having the same issue.  How did you drain the internal battery?

Remove the battery and memory card.  Turn on the power switch.  Hold the shutter fully pressed for at least 10 seconds.
