I am planning to buy this camera but would like to know if it's compatible with the Tokina atx-i 100mm f/2.8 FF Macro Lens for Canon EF that I already own. I know some non-Canon EF lenses won't work with the new mirrorless cameras. Does anyone know about this particular lens? Overall, I like the lens - it suits my hobbyist needs. Thank you!

If you plan to use other Canon EF lenses, then just buy the Canon mount adapter and try it.

Thank you. I sold it and got a Canon 100mm 2.8 EF mount and like it. Didn't want to go the RF route at this point because all my other lenses are EF and I didn't want to bother with removing the adapter when changing lenses. I bought it used but it looks new so it was a great deal.

Greetings,
Ebiggs1 really summed things up. If 100 mm macro is important to you, it's time for an RF lens. Adapting EF lenses to mirrorless can work. It gets more tricky when the lenses are 3rd party (As you've discovered). Performance quirks (AF speed, subject tracking, inability to achieve maximum FPS are examples), slower communication standards, etc.
You may want to check with Tokina directly and see if there is a firmware update option. I believe they require that you send the lens in. I also don't follow Tokina too closely. If it's not a lens you want to part with, you can relegate it to your 5DmkIII.
I do own the RF100 macro. I purchased it refurb from Canon. Although I only use it a few times a year, I've been very pleased every time I've taken it out. It goes on sale quite frequently.

Thank you. I ended up getting a used (in excellent condition, can't even tell it's been used) Canon 100 mm EF mount, only because all my other lenses are EF mount, and I didn't want to be bothered with removing the adapter.

Thanks for the response. I will probably get the macro canon RF lens. Going to start doing more macro work and need something that does the job and looks great. The Tokina was on a whim as well as the Tamron. Should have not rushed on both purchases.

We learn as we grow as photographers. So far I like the EF mount and because all my other lenses are EF, I figured I stick with EF. Plus I got a really good deal on it used and it looks new. Perhaps one day I'll change them out for RF especially as the prices come down and there are more high quality used lenses on the market.
