I take photographs of objects by shooting with a Canon 6D through a newer pc laptop via Canon Utilities version 3. This setup worked fine until recently. Now when I use the Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Macro USM lens, I get the message “focus failure” and the image goes out of focus, and I’m unable to take the shot or focus. I can take images using a different lens (Canon 20-74mm Zoom lens). And, images can be taken with 100mm macro lens when the Canon 6D is tethered to an older pc or a Mac. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks!

When you say images can be taken with an older PC but not the newer one do you mean in the past, or do you mean you connect the camera to the older PC and it focuses but you just unplug from the older, connect to the newer and it doesn't focus?

Verify that you haven't inadvertently set a limiter position that is out of range of the subject distance.
