Hi guys, I just ordered the canon rf 200-800 today and am super excited for it, my worry is about the order times, I have a roadtrip next month that I want the lens for and am nervous it would get here in time, anyone have reassurance or recommendations? Thanks!

Hey Tom,

I applied for the B&H PayBoo card and was instantly approved to shop with immediately.  However, they don't give you the cc account number, so I have to wait until I get the card to change it for the cc that I used to order the RF 200-800mm lens.  I'll give them a call next week to see I they can do it for me.   Hopefully I will get the lens by Christmas.  Did you get yours yet?  If so, post some pics that you've taken with it.

Cheers,
Joe

Hi Joe,

Welcome back! Hope you had a wonderful trip

I'm glad the payboo card worked out for you. There's some cost savings associated with using it.  Hopefully it's just another month or two before my 200-800 ships.

I do really like my camera.  It's proven itself many times In performance and versatility.  I plan to test the new lens once it arrives.

I was lucky and scored mine back in Feb this year.  I love this lens for my purposes - the reach is excellent and so is the optical performance.  A couple of things I would improve.  Have definite clicks when rotating the lens within the tripod mount for horizontal and vertical alignment, and use a system similar to that on the EF 100-400MkII to let me remove the very large tripod foot (see image).  It would also be nice if the foot was Arca-Swiss plate compatible.

Nice pictures, Trevor!   I'm glad that I ordered the RF 200-800mm lens.  It would be nice if I received it by Christmas.  I do agree with your review and suggestions to canon on how to improve it.  Having said that, I think once I get it, it will be my go-to lens.  I hope my pics will be as sharp as yours!  😆

Thanks Rick,

I also hooe that you get your RF 200-800mm lens soon, at least before Thanksgiving!  I have some time to wait before mine ships.  TomRamsey, posted a pic of a multicolored crane which looks really nice.  That extra 200mm makes a big difference.   Can't wait to see your pics once you get your lens.  Let us know when you get your email confirmation that it shipped.

Cheers,
Joe

Trevor, the picture of the red panda is so nice.  Those little guys are hyperactive and hard to shoot.  They move so much and so fast that they test your resolve!  Love  your red panda pic!
