R7 - What should be my next lens?

Hey! Can you help me develop as a photographer?

I have a Canon R7 with the standard 18-150 lens. I need a camera to document (images and video) some small events and workshops (indoor/outdoor), portraits, and better-quality video calls.

Am I ready for another lens? Am I fine with what I have already and invest money in courses rather than equipment?

Thank you!

Hello!

Your Canon R7 with the 18-150mm lens is versatile and suitable for events, workshops, portraits, and video calls. Investing in courses might be more beneficial right now, as they can enhance your skills in composition, lighting, and post-processing. However, if you feel limited by your current lens, consider a prime lens like the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 for better portraits or the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 for low-light and video work.

A popular choice for video is a lens in the 15-35mm range on full frame cameras, you might want to look at the RF-S 10-18mm lens as it would extend your wide-angle range and is great value. Alternatively and more expensive is the RF 10-20mm lens that will fit on both APS-C cameras like your EOS R7 and also on full-frame models where it is ultra-wide.
