EOS Rebel T6 compatibility issue with RF 100-400mm lens

Hey All, I hope somebody can help me out. I have a rebel t6.   I just bought a new lens, the 100-400 F5.6-8 IS USM.  it doesn't seem to fit onto the camera.  I'm not sure if I'm the dummy. or if they just don't fit together.

There is only one Canon lens that offers 100-400mm focal length and F5.6-8 aperture with IS and USM. That lens is the RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM, and it has the RF lens mount for R-series mirrorless cameras, This is different to the EF / EF-S lens mount on your Rebel T6. The combination of your camera and this lens will never work together unfortunately.

You have two choices, return the lens to the store / supplier or trade in your Rebel T6 and get one of the R-series mirrorless cameras, the EOS R50 or EOS R10 would be a great choice and will work perfectly with the lens.
