I've inherited a wonderful Canon EF 70-200 2.8 L lens. It is a Type I, I believe. I'd like to purchase a Canon EF Extender and was wondering if the Type II or Type III extenders would be compatible. I understand the mount will fit but I'm concerned about quality. I had read once that the extenders have to match the lens type. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Either version will work with your lens. The III has better image quality due to less distortion. The III has better AF performance with newer lenses; not the early 70-200.
