I was away for a week and my printer was left on and now it prints double images.  I am self employed and need to use it!!!  HELP!!!!

OK! What AMAZING fix? Nothing is given or shown, just the possible cause of using CTRL P
What is "So easy but not somewhere you would look to fix it!!!"

Did you find a solution? As my MG5420 is having the same problem now.

I have the same problem (blurred printing and double lines on a Canon MG 5550) a cartridge test print shows lines seperating with the PGBK cartridge but OK on the rest, deep cleaning and re-alignment does not help.

SOLUTION 1

The PGBK cartridge is only used with the plain paper settings, change your paper setting to photo matt or similar and your printout is fine!!

Note: printing will be slower with this setting so reduce the quality setting to partially compensate. Duplex printing is not available.

SOLUTION 2

The PGBK cartridge is not used in duplex mode (apparently the pigment ink is felt too sticky for that mode so only the dye inks are used) so ensure the printer is in a duplex mode AND at least 2 pages will be printed.

SOLUTION 3

A possible fix is to carefully clean the timing / encoder strip (clear plastic strip found to the rear of the print chamber) but its hard to get to and many report it doesn't solve the problem.

I have the same problem, just after I had to shut down the printer and disconnect the power cord at both ends, to fix a problem with "cover open" misreads.

I have MG5420

Seems to be black ink only in duplex printing.  Never had this problem before the last shutdown I mentioned above.
