mg5400 does not scan. will not print remotely

I have an mg5400 which I really like and has served me trouble free until recently.  it now longer communicates wirelessly.  it must be hard wired to accept a print command.  says printer is offline even though it is up and running.  takes right off and prints as soon as cable is connected.  it will not scan.  says to set up pc for scan.  i have tried to initiate a scan from the printer and from the computer both wired and wireless.  i am in the middle of a remodle and all manuals and disks have been packed away.  is there a way to reset the printer or is there something else that can be done?  thanks for your time.  it will copy and print cds from a memory card with no problems but that doesn't require computer interface.

Hi wascals,

Thanks for supplying your operating system information.

Prior to reinstalling the drivers, please ensure that any antivirus for firewall software that is on your computer is temporarily disabled, as these programs can sometimes block the printer from being detected on the network. Once the printer is detected successfully, the protection software can be re-enabled.

Please click here to go to the Drivers and Software page for the PIXMA MG5420 (uses the drivers and software as the PIXMA MG5400 series printer). Once on the initial download page for your model, please do the following:

1. Verify that the operating system detected in the "OPERATING SYSTEM" drop-down menu is correct, and if it is not, please click the drop-down menu to select your operating system.

2. Next, please click on the red arrow next to the "DRIVERS" section and click the MINI MASTER SETUP file. When you do, a red DOWNLOAD button will appear. Please click on the checkbox below the DOWNLOAD button, then click the red DOWNLOAD button to begin the download. The time for the download process may vary depending on the speed of your Internet connection and the size of the file being downloaded.

Once you have downloaded the Mini Master Setup, please double-click on it and follow the prompts to reinstall the drivers for the printer.  You can follow the same procedure for both of your computers.

Hope this helps!

thanks for your help.  reinstalled the drivers on both systems.  working fine now.  isp replaced router.  so much going on didn't even think to setup the printer for the new router.  after hard wired desktop install, was still getting "setup pc" message when scan initiated from the printer.  no problems when initiated from the computer.  after wireless was setup on the laptop, scan button on the printer worked.  everything working but seems odd that network setup would be required to operated the scanner if you aren't using a wireless connection.  not complaining, everything working.  thanks for your assistance.  problem solved.
