I have a Canon pixma mx 922, I had the same problem receiving the message "printer is off line".  This might help

DO NOT TURN YOUR PRINTER OFF.  Once you get your printer to printer do not turn it off.  So far this is the thrid day and no problems.  If it start having the problem again I am returning the printer back to the store.  Good luck.

This is correct. If you want to connect to a printer wirelessly it must be on all the time. It will go to sleep mode after a while (i.e. LED display turns off), but the green light and blue light must remain on.
