The G6020 keeps telling me to add paper even tho it has plenty.

I'd cleared a paper jam, and ever since, it won't print now, as the printer constantly says I need to add paper.  I've had two other people look the printer over in case I missed something, and they can't find anything.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Fisher1! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see that your PIXMA G6020 is constantly asking you to load paper after it experienced a paper jam.

To start troubleshooting, I recommend looking at the error code that is being displayed on the printer. You should either be seeing Code 1003 or 1000. Both of those errors ask you to load paper. However, the 1003 error asks you to load paper in the Cassette located at the bottom of the printer. The 1000 error, on the other hand, asks you to load paper in the Rear Tray at the top of the printer.

If you are getting the error code 1003, I recommend checking the paper guides on the cassette. They need to be adjusted to match both the length and width of the paper. For details on this error, please look at the following page of the manual:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/ErrorCode/G6000%20series/EN/ERR/1003.html?ref=1003

While you have the cassette pulled out, please look under the printer (where the cassette normally sits) for a paper jam. If you see one there, please follow the instructions in this page:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/ErrorCode/G6000%20series/EN/ERR/1303.html?ref=1303

If you are getting the 1000 error instead, the printer is expecting you to load paper in the Rear Tray on the top of the printer. If that is where you are loading the paper, I recommend that you take the paper out of the tray and look inside for anything that may have slipped in (like a pencil or pen). If you don’t see an obstruction in the Rear Tray, please make sure that the paper guides are adjusted to match the width of the paper as shown in the following page of the manual:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/ErrorCode/G6000%20series/EN/ERR/1000.html?ref=1000

If you are getting the 1000 error, but you want to use the Cassette instead of the Rear Tray, I recommend you check the Paper Settings on the device that you are printing from. For example, if you are printing from a computer, please be sure the Paper Size and Type settings in the Print Dialog box match the paper you have loaded in the cassette. The default paper size and type registered to the cassette should be Letter (8.5x11 inch) and Plain Paper. For details about the Paper Settings, please see the following pages:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/G6000%20series/EN/UG/ug-042.html

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/PrinterDriver/W/G6000%20series/1.0/EN/PPG/dg-c_basic.html

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/PrinterDriver/M/G6000%20series/1.0/EN/PPG/dg-c_pc_basic.html

If the paper is loaded properly, there is no paper jam or object causing an obstruction, and the Paper Settings are set correctly for the Cassette or Rear Tray, I recommend that you cancel your print job, restart the printer, and perform three Roller Cleanings. The Roller Cleaning is one of the maintenance options in the printer’s menu. For instructions on how to perform one roller cleaning, please see the following pages of the manual:

https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/G6000%20series/EN/UG/ug-143.html

Please make sure to perform that procedure three times.

If you are still being asked to load paper after three roller cleanings, there is likely a mechanical issue with the printer. I recommend contacting Canon support if it has been less than a year since you purchased the printer or if you purchased a warranty extension directly from Canon and it is still active.

If you have not done so, please create a My Canon account and register the printer so you can contact support via chat or phone. If you have already registered your printer, you can sign into your account to check your support options.

Please use the following link to create or open your account:

https://myprofile.americas.canon.com/us/signin

After you create your account and register the printer, you can click on SERVICE & SUPPORT in the left column of your Canon Account. Then, click on the red box that says GET SERVICE & SUPPORT (on the right side of the page) to find information on the phone and chat support options.

If your printer is no longer in warranty, it may be more cost effective to purchase a replacement than to pay someone to repair the printer. Through our Canon Upgrade Program, we can offer you a discount and free shipping on a new printer if the warranty is expired. If you are interested in that, please call (866) 443-8002 from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. (Eastern Time), Monday through Friday to speak with one of our sales agents who would be happy to help you.

I hope this information helps. Thanks for choosing Canon.
