TR8620a will not scan and save a document in pdf

Brand new TR8620a will scan a document and send it to my PC, but in image format(aka unreadable data).

I have Selected "Document" and "PDF Letter".  Did I buy the wrong printer to scan documents?

I use the device with Windows and macOS computers. No problem scanning and creating PDFs.

Are you using the IJ Scan Lite Utility?

Thank you for your response: I am not familiar with the IJ Scan Lite Utility.

I just use the Menu on the printer and the scanned document appears on my HP desktop… as an image.  🤔
