Brand new 1/3/20
TR8520 will not print - I get the "Printer not responding" error message. Print documents are in the que but do not print.
Win7 / Wireless connection
Scanner works fine
I can ping the IP and get to the printer, so I know it's online
Laptop sees the printer and says "device is working properly"
However, when printing Test Pages they never print, neither from Win Devices & Printers, or from the Canon install application
I've tried uninstall / reinstall / unstall driver / update driver / power on/off (both printer and laptop)'
I even tried direct ethernet connection to my network, same result.
My previous MX892 worked flawlessly with wireless connection so I don't think it would be anything in my Windows settings (got the "incorrect printhead error" had to abandon it).
Canon support doesn't work on weekends, (thanks a lot!)
Anybody been able to solve this problem?

Hi drgerry.
To operate on Windows 7, the TR8520 requires the computer to be updated to at least Service Pack 1 (SP1). If this has not yet been installed on the computer, you may be able to find a downloadable SP1 upgrade file on Microsoft's support site (non-Canon link: http://support.microsoft.com ).
Try using the printer's IP address, through a browser on the Windows 7 computer, to open the TR8520's Remote UI. If the Signal Strength or Link Quality are below 70%, then it may not be detected by Canon's installer during the installation process.
If the Windows 10 computer was able to see and connect to the TR8520, then the problem may be with the firewall or antivirus on one or both computers. Security software may treat the installer as a "dangerous program" for no reason other than it originated outside of the computer. Various antiviri and firewalls will behave differently based on how they're created and set up.

Similar problem. I've had the printer since late September with no problems but we recently updated our routers firmware and can no longer print. I'm on windows 10 and am getting 'canon tr8500 series' is in an error state. Both my huband and I have tried to uninstall and reinstall and still can't print. I can however scan from my computer with no probelms so it's recognizing the wireless connection for me to be able to get an image from the scanner to my computer. My husband plugged in and can now print but my only option would be wireless so I still can't print.

Has anyone got this working? I have had this TR8520 for over a year and have experience continuous problems similar to those mentioned. The issues have persisted on Windows 7, 8, and 10. I can get it working one day via USB, then the next it won't work. I tried using WIFI, one day it works from my PC and prints from the cloud. The next day it doesn't respond. Try again a week later and it may or may not work. I am continuously re-installing drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling Windows printers, etc. My last solution was to use a hardwired connection to my router. This has been more stable for the past week but not what I would consider acceptable and not for a duration long enough that I would recommend this solution to others. It also seems the hardware for the wired connection is much slower than the wireless, which seems typical for modern electronics (other than routers and switches). It also gives me an error after succesfully printing: "Printer not responding". This is better than before but it is not normal to receive errors and leads me to believe it is only a matter of time before it doesn't respond before I need to print. I am also not able to scan documents to the PC despite being able to print to it.

SAME, and I'm really tired of this, I've followed all recommended "fixes." There's clearly some updated driver needed for this printer that for some reason CANON has failed to provide, despite this issue having been flagged many times over many months. I hope they can let us know ASAP what a real solution is here; if not, I'll be reporting this product to the FTC's Consumer Protection Bureau (and probably the NYS and NYC Consumer Affairs bureaus as well).

Same problem with my TR 8620. Solved this by going to the product page and downloading the driver install exe and reinstalling the driver. This creates a new printer called copy 1 and sets it as the default. As well, attached USB and waited for my antique Win 7 pro box to recognize it and "install" it. Total success. So NO idea if it works now via USB or Wifi but it works and that's all I care about.
