Is there a solution to this other than having it serviced? This printer's less than a year old and hasn't been used very much. Is there a way to do a factory reset or hard reset that doesn't involve using the touch screen? Seems like a stupid question but I figured it was worth a shot.

Hi Evolution13,
Please turn connecting your PIXMA TR8520 directly to a wall outlet, and if it already is, please try a different outlet.
If the issue persists, your PIXMA TR8520 would require service. Because your PIXMA TR8520 is less than a year old, it is still in warranty. Please contact us so that we can send a replacement to you.

The answer here is not helpful. The machine is plugged in, it does not matter which outlet it is plugged. The power is all the same. The screen turns on. The screen is just no longer touch activated, so nothing on the screen con be selected. How do you do a factory reset and start the set up mode all over?

Hi,
While the printer is on, unplug the power cord from the printer. While the power is off, press the power button 5 times. After 60 seconds plug the power cord back in and power on the printer.
If the touchscreen still does not respond, the printer would need service. If the printer is in it's 1 year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your warranty options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.
If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

Try the fix suggested by the product expert on 2-27. It worked for me.

This worked like a charm! I have struggled for a few months now and thought that I was going to have to replace my printer which I otherwise have been more than satisfied with. Who would have thought that such a simple fix would do it.
