TR8520 Support Code 1300. Looks terminal

VRMO

Hello I have a TR8520 displaying Support Code 1300. From my research on this forum, it appears that it's a terminal issue.

What are my options here? Is this a repairable issue? Is it worth the money for repair as oppose to buying a new printer?

My biggest issue is that we recently stocked up on the PG 281 Ink cartridges so I don't want to lose the value on those. Are there other Canon printers available through Canon Direct that take those cartridges? I can't seem to find one that is compatible.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for the list of ink cartridge compatible printers. I found a used one on Amazon but it was delivered poorly packed and broken as soon as we opened the box. There is no actual paper jam in the unit. We've looked everywhere. I read elsewhere on this forum that occasionally that is a terminal error having to do with a faulty part (I forget what it was called).

It is rarely economical to repair a consumer grade printer, assuming you could even find a place that works on them. A new printer comes with a complete set of ink cartridges as well, so that cost would need to be added to any repair cost when doing the cost/benefit.

From Rick's list I have the TR8620a which uses the 281 series. I am very happy with that device. Based on the numbering I am guessing it is the successor to the 8520 model.
