Hi mexstep,

A common cause of the issue can be due either to the Print Side setting requiring adjusting, or confirming that single-sided printing is enabled in the printer driver for your operating system.  Depending on your OS and version, the setting may be found on the Finishing tab of the driver in Windows, or, as a radio button or under Print Style in the Basic drop-down menu of the Print dialog box in the Mac OS.

To review how to check the Print Side setting and if Print Side Priority is set, click here.  Once reaching the FAQ area you can access the Article, "Selecting the Print Side (MF4890dw/MF4880dw Only)" by typing in the article name.

However, if further assistance is needed, please Contact Us.

I have my Windows PC and my MacBook (OS X 10.9.1) sitting here side by side, and I can find the Finishing Tab under Properties when printing from the PC, but I can find NOTHING when printing from my MacBook.

It is very annoying that all of my printouts from my MacBook are printed double-sided.  Help!

Hi rwallaceking!

I know this issue is frustrating and I'm glad to assist you.  To turn off two-sided printing on the Mac OS X operating system, please follow the steps below:

  1. Click [File], and then [Print] in the application you would like to print from.
  2. Click the drop-down arrow next to [Copies & Pages] or [Safari].  This depends on the program that you are printing from.
  3. Select [Layout].
  4. Set the 2-sided option as [OFF].

Before you print the document, we recommend saving this option as a "Preset", so that you don't have to make these changes in every application that you print from.  To save this setting as a preset, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the "Presets" drop-down arrow and click "Save current setting as preset."
  2. Name it "1-sided" or "Single-Sided" and verify that the imageCLASS MF4570dn is the only printer selected.
  3. Click "OK".
  4. Print the document.

I hope this information is helpful to you.  Should you need further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).  Have a nice day.
