Pixma TS9120 won't feed paper from rear

I just set up my Pixma TS9210. I want to print a document (from my computer) using the rear paper feed, but the printer just gives me an error message that there's no paper in the (front) cassette. The paper is loaded correctly, as far as I can tell. Am I missing something? I can't find any settings that specify which paper feed to use.

- What version of Windows or Macintosh is installed on your computer?
- What type of paper is loaded in the printer?
- Are you trying to print a photo or document?
- What type of paper is set in the rear tray when you open the paper registration on the printer?
