Canon Pixma MX490 powers on and goes through initialization, then powers back off. Keeps repeating the process as long as it's plugged in. Buttons are non-responsive.

Same problem here. I used the printer about a month ago and then when I tried to start it this morning it does the exact same thing as described above. I will try the pressing the power button 10x thing, but it looks like that is only temporary. 🤷🏻♂️

That “push the power button ten times” trick did not work, for the record.

my Maxify MB 2320 is doing the same thing. I made sure it was turned off before unplugging it. When I plugged it back in, it just kept going in an endless power cycle.

Im having the same issue . My printer was working last night. Im so frustrated.

Same here - nothing works to stop the cycle or fix it. This is most definitely the result of a firmware update push or something on Cannon's side. The likelihood of all of us randomly, spontaneously having this same issue all at once out of nowhere is slim to nil. We need to continue pushing for an actual resolution, not their canned response about upgrading to a new printer. If they just bricked all our printers, they should replace at their cost.

Thanks, Canon update the firmware and it causes the power cycle problems, I guess. MX490

Mine screwed up without update. Then:
You have to do the fix then LEAVE IT ON. Unplug printer when it cycles off, unplug modem, press printer power button 10 times, plug in printer, plug in modem. Have done several fixes because of turning it off, or doing an update, but the fix always works...so far.
If you leave the thing on after the fix, it will keep working. At least it has for me. Did a new cartridge and alignment. Did a firmware update that did NOT fix it, but screwed it up again. Went thru fix process and it works again. The 1st doc you print AFTER the fix, it will whine and "adjust" or whatever, THEN it will print. And then no more BS. It just works now.

Can we downgrade MX490 firmware?

I am also having the same power cycling issue. Printer was working fine as of two days ago. Have unplugged several times and still continues once plugged back in. I have also cancelled all jobs sent to printer. I hope this gets resolved...since I just put in two new ink cartridges within the last week!

Same exact issue here on my MX492. Can't get it to anything other than "Canon" coming up on the display and restarting. Was printing fine last week....
