Hello, I have the Pixma MG7520. All of a sudden it just stopped printing in the middle of a job this morning and turned off. I since have not been able to get the printer to turn back on. I have unplugged several times and also moved to a different outlet. It starts to look like it's booting up, but then just shuts off. I have had the printer several years but it does not get heavy use; not sure if it's just age or if there is something else to try and get the printer to turn on. TIA

Has your (Canon's) WiFi connectivity firmware been hacked???

I started having the same problem today, my wife tried to copy something and the printer was off. She tried and tried but the thing would start the turn on cycle but then turn off again within 10-15 seconds.
After reading many of these posts I got mine to turn on by first turning off my WiFi and then turning on the printer, it took awhile, but the printer turned on, with the error message about properly shutting it down. I could copy but did not try to print via usb. When I turned my WiFi back on the printer shut down. And would not turn on again.
I believe as others have said this is probably a software switch used by Canon to require us to buy a new computer. (or a hack targeting MG7250s, but why? that doesn't make sense)

It's all Canon inkjets, so your (and my) 7520 weren't singled out 🙄

Scammer Beware pretending to be Canon. Yesterday I went looking online for a solution to this issue for my Pixma mg7520. I ended up hunting down a website that looked completely like canon, with address usa.canon.com. Looked legit, had tech support on chat. They took my phone number and called me back. Then they went through with installing team viewer app and trying to tell me I had all this other stuff wrong with my computer and wanted to charge me anywhere from $99 to $699 to "fix" all my issues. I suspected this was BS, discontinued my call and called the canon 1 800-652-2666. They confirmed my suspicions, telling me that yes, what I had dealt with was a scam. They quickly fixed my problem for me by having me go into my printer settings. I needed to put in a new primary address in the settings and my printer is back working like normal. They assured me that Canon never charges for service on their products. The only transactions that will take place with the real Canon are when you actually purchase something new from them. So be careful folks. The scammers are looking more real all the time!

Has Canon come up with any kind of fix for this major issue? Apparently affecting numerous models of Canon wireless printers.

This is not a canon website we are even on. This is part of their stupid scam at usa.canon.com. Call canon directly at 1-800-652-2666

This is an official Canon site.

Hi Stephen, as a moderator you can take my message out from above, as I realize now this is an official canon website. However, when I search your web page, the scammer is coming in on top of your webpage usa.canon.com, in a form of a tech support bubble. This is what led to the rabbit hole I ended up on yesterday. I think people should be aware of this so they don't end up getting duped! Thank you, sorry for the confusion, but this has all been a gong show since yesterday.

Usually that means you are performing a web search instead of going directly to a webpage, so you end up on a search engine with multiple results which likely don't have the url you searched for. For easy access, here is a link to our website: https://usa.canon.com/
