Pixma Ix6820 Not responding - Print head might be broken

Hello,

My ix6820 printer has stopped responding today out of nowhere. I have replaced all of the ink-tanks, as well as tried cleaning the printhead myself, unplugged it to reset it. I cant get it to manually respond by holding any of the buttons to run a cleaning cycle or test print. Nor can I get it to connect to the driver, as it says not found on the network. ( I have tried troubleshooting the firewall. )

Sometimes it alternates between both buttons flashing, to just the orange button flashing. Either 5 flashes indicating error code 1401 or around 10 flashes which Im not sure.

Will the driver be able to tell me the problem? I would have to purchase a usb to connect it manually.

My guess is something is wrong with the printhead, but I dont want to replace it and have it not fix the problem, so I am hoping someone can tell me how to best diagnose the problem without spending a lot of money.

Hi,

Based on the 2 different error codes, this does sounds like a hardware issue and the printer would need to be replaced.

Ithe printer is in its 1-year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your warranty options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.

If the printer is out of warranty, you would qualify for the Canon Upgrade program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service or are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This program allows you the opportunity to purchase a replacement product discounted from the list price. Free ground shipping is included with your purchase.

You can take advantage of this offer by calling the Canon Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.
